Adios Playa Hermosa

We said goodbye to our hotel on the Pacific this morning and are currently in San Jose. Departure time from our hotel on Playa Hermosa was 11:00 am this morning, so they had time to follow their own schedules and desires. There was no pressure to get up and go! Breakfast was served any time between 8-10, so they got to choose when to sit down and eat with their friends. Some got up early. A couple slept in. For those that rose early, they got to see an intense surf session from 6-8 am right out in front of the hotel. Yesterday a big swell came in and the waves were absolutely pumping last night around 9 pm. A bunch of us were down on the beach watching 12 foot barreling waves in the dark (the hotel has a spotlight on them). Overnight the swell settled a little, and with the calm dawn winds the surfers came out in force this morning to give us a little show. So yeah, they just sat on the lawn or in the restaurant (which is basically the same place) watching the waves, surfers, and sunshine. They also walked the beach one last time (or ran it). It was a super casual morning for all just going at their own pace until we left at 11:00. On our way to San Jose, we stopped at a large complex with all locally sourced products. There was a section with clothing and souvenirs. Another section was a buffet style restaurant for them to have lunch. There was an outdoor smoothy/drink/ice cream counter. It was their last hurrah for shopping. Back here at the hotel, as I type, many are swimming (surprise, surprise). We are going to get cleaned up and have our farewell dinner at 7 pm (9 pm in Ledyard). Then we are off to bed. Obviously, tomorrow will be a long travel day. It is what it is. It’s part of international travel. We’ll all be kinda on autopilot, just going through every bus ride, fight, TSA check, etc. We’ll see you all late tomorrow night, probably in the 2-3 am range. Of course, I’ll update you on that as we progress. Keep an eye on your emails, too. I’ll communicate mainly via this blog, but I may send micro-updates via email as we are in route from Boston to LHS.
